ELIXIR FHD Community Day

The ELIXIR Federated Human Data (FHD) Community aims to support a federated ecosystem of interoperable services that enables population-scale genomic and biomolecular data to be accessible across international borders, accelerating research and improving the health of individuals across Europe.

The FHD Community Day took place on 19 November 2024 as a hybrid meeting, with the F2F component in Lisbon, Portugal. During the meeting, participants shared recent updates on relevant projects happening across Europe and internationally, and could network around FHD-related special topics through various breakout sessions.

Dr Mark Ibberson (Director of SIB’s Computational Biology group Vital-IT leading the Swiss FEGA project) and Owen Appleton (SIB, coordinator of the Swiss FEGA project) co-chaired one of the breakout sessions, entitled "New FEGA node experiences and stories".

During that session, they shared the Swiss story throughout its onboarding journey from the initial discussions between key Swiss stakeholders until the end-to-end demonstration of node functionality, which raised quite a lot of questions, discussion and food for thought!
