While the Swiss FEGA technical team is still working hard to get the Swiss FEGA node in production in the next months, we are liaising in parallel with potential users of the service, i.e. researchers and clinicians who would like to deposit genomic datasets on Swiss FEGA.

SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics will be happy to host the 2025 ELIXIR Federated Human Data (FHD) Community Day, as a joint event with the Human Data and Translational Research (HDTR) project meetings on 10-11 November 2025. Following the successful demonstration of secure infrastructure for storing and sharing sensitive patient data, Switzerland has now officially joined the Federated European Genome-phenome Archive (FEGA) network – a growing international community that provides federated access to genomics resources for research.

Last week, Owen Appleton and Mark Ibberson from the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics coordinating the Swiss FEGA project were delighted to attend the 2025 ELIXIR All Hands Meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, where they co-led the workshop entitled "A Community of Practice for FEGA node expansion: Experiences, resources, support and future models".
