The Swiss FEGA team was glad to welcome the Czech FEGA team in Lausanne last week (23-25 September 2025) for the second workshop as part of the ELIXIR Staff Exchange.
This 3-days meeting was the opportunity for the Czech team to assess progress towards the establishment of a minimum viable product that demonstrates end-to-end service capabilities in order to join the FEGA network. The Swiss team presented the tools developed within the Swiss FEGA node, e.g. FHDportal as the data submission and access portal, and the DAC platform and related tools developed by the Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) to manage data access requests.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed broader topics, including federated compute, long-term funding and sustainability of the national FEGA infrastructures as well as strategic alignment with European initiatives (e.g. the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) project, EHDS...).
This fruitful workshop opens the door for future collaboration options in the scope of emerging projects between the Czech Republic and Switzerland!
